GRATITUDE -

  GRATITUDE

Hello to all!!

I am writing this not only to reflect so I can gain some perspective, but to also let everyone know what happened to me.  First off thanks to all my family, friends and fans that reached out to show their love, support, thoughts and prayers.  I am so grateful to be surrounded by so much love. I am really going to be just fine, however I am super, super lucky, or maybe blessed, or maybe protected.  What ever you want to call it I am just so grateful it wasn't worse.  I'll try to make this quick.

Long story short I was down at my house on the beach in Cholla Bay Mexico with my girlfriend and friends.  After a wonderful kick ass weekend full of music, swimming in the ocean, beers and seafood and an awesome ride on a cruise ship, we settled in back at the casa.  Later that Sunday evening we lit off some fireworks (from the USA) and bottle rockets (from Mexico) on the ocean in front of my house. This is something I very rarely do when down in Mexico and frankly (I don't really like fireworks) and haven't done in many years, but in the spirit of 4th of July weekend we decided to light a few off.

(this guy was awesome)

I know you know where this is going.  The only large bottle rocket I went to light off did not shoot up in the air .......... uhghghg = shit ! ... Instead it immediately exploded in my face and arms.  I immediately hit the ground and was unconscious for 5 minutes or so.  When I came to, it felt like a bomb had went off with a pulsating and painful ringing in my ears.  With the help of my terrified girlfriend and friend, we ran up the stairs to the mirror in the room and it was then that true shock set in as I looked at a face covered in blood and burns.  I was rushed by Cheryl and Trent to the only emergency room in Cholla Bay but no one was there.  Thankfully, Cheryl drove to a near by resort where someone was able to call an ambulance.  When I arrived at the hospital, the doctors we're able to take care of me, clean all wounds and stitch me up (there's a lot more to this story but I'll keep it short)

In the end I had pretty severe explosion type wounds on my cheek under my right eye as well more stitches on my head and arms, not to mention bad burns on my face, fore arms and a ruptured ear drum - pretty much can't hear in my left ear right now.  I was able to get back to my doctor in Arizona around 11:00 am on Monday morning.

THE GOOD NEWS:  Even though I am in a lot of pain, I am healing well and in good spirits.  My hearing should come back 90-100% within a week or two = hopefully.  The burn creme I put on daily seems to be working really well.  Hopefully I get my stitches out on Friday and then I will know whether or not I need some corrective plastic surgery, but I know it's pretty amazing what they can do these days.  Hopefully I do not need it and I can just talk like Scarface mang!

GRATEFUL:  The truth is I am extremely lucky, blessed and protected.  1 inch higher and I loose an eye.  If my I loose part of my hand or fingers, I never play guitar again.  1 Inch to the left or right and it hits my nose or blows off my ear.  If the shrapnel hits me in the throat, neck or heart or hits an artery I might not be here.

Heroes:   Trent, Cheryl, Paramedics, Doctors

CHERYL:   I love you so much.  Your bravery, strength and quick thinking saved me.  You have been an angel and a powerful healer showing nothing but love and support.  I am so sorry for the trauma this must have caused you.  Thank you for your unconditional love and your beautiful spirit.

Thank you again to all my family, friends and fans who reached out to me with your love, thoughts and prayers.  I love you all so much.  I will see you soon enough ....... with a far grander outlook on life.

Peace & Prosperity,

Sammy

EARTH DAY 2011

Earth Day 2011 - by Sam Wiley a.k.a. No.7Kid

As musical artists, we've always wanted to spread positivity, create environmental awareness, and visualize harmony in the world.  To us Earthday is more than just doing something for the environment or simply celebrating the earth and all of her beauty's.  In our eyes we are all connected and part of one universal mind in one sea of energy.  Nothing is external and we have the power to reshape this world in our thoughts, visions, prayers, dreams and desires.

Today, in this blog, we wanted to show some love and send thanks to everyone we have worked with environmentally.  Sooooo ..... here we go!

To Holly Beck:  Thank you for being an inspiration to us.  We've enjoyed following your adventures and admire your constant battles to make this world a better place.  For those who don't know Holly, she is a Pro Surfer and world traveler who first came to us on Myspace asking if she could use our music in her surf videos.  We were honored to say the least and have stayed in contact ever since.  Below is a great video she made using our "GO GREEN" song.  Enjoy!

We would also like to thank Zero Hero - an amazing company that specializes in creating sustainable events through zero waste, renewable energy and education.  We partnered with them and our "Go Green" song to help educate bands on what they can do to support the environment while on tour.  You can check out the "Fresh Greens for Fresh Artists" Program here --> http://www.zeroheroevents.com/scholarship/

The above photo is one of my favorites.  A big shout and thanks to Ethan and Michael from ACE - Alliance for Climate Education.  In 2010 we embarked on an amazing Bio Bus tour through California with these guys performing on top of this amazing bio bus powered by vegetable oil and solar power.  There really isn't enough space on this blog to talk about all positives that this company does for the environment.  You can check out everything about ACE here  http://www.acespace.org/.
Also, here's a great video on a little of what they are about and what we did together. So awesome-- BLAM!

OK moving on.  We'd also like to thank the Surfrider Foundation, especially the Sandiego Chapter for at that you do.  I love the ocean and the beach as I am sure everyone does and nobody does more in the world to keep our oceans and beaches clean that Surfrider.  Add them on facebook here -- Surfrider Foundation
We helped them out in San Diego with a beach clean up, which was awesome.  We also helped out with their "Ban the Bag" program to help stop plastic bag pollution in the ocean.  You can check the Youtube vid we did for them here --->

Lastly, we'd like to thank everyone over at GREENSTOCK here in Phoenix.  We recently performed the main stage and had a great time and great show!  Amazing event that they put on every year in Phoenix.  Check it out here -- > GREENSTOCK

Alright ya'll - This is the No 7 Kid saying peace be the word and happy Earth Day to all.  If you want to support the cause with Zero Hero, you can download "GO GREEN" on iTunes here -- GO GREEN BABY

Keep in touch and keep an eye out for that new album "Kill it with Love" coming very soon.  Till then I'll leave with a few quotes from the Dailai Lama below.

As people alive today, we must consider future generations: a clean environment is a human right like any other. It is therefore part of our responsibility towards others to ensure that the world we pass on is as healthy, if not healthier, than we found it. ~Dalai Lama

Peace and the survival of life on earth as we know it are threatened by human activities that lack a commitment to humanitarian values. Destruction of nature and natural resources results from ignorance, greed and lack of respect for the earth´s living things.  ~Dalai Lama

Just as we should cultivate gentle and peaceful relations with our fellow human beings, we should also extend that same kind of attitude towards the natural environment. Morally speaking, we should be concerned for our whole environment.  ~Dalai Lama

Kill it with Love -

KILL IT WITH LOVE
New Album from The Wiley One - a Sam Wiley Post

"Walk through the storm with my hoodie on, i'm gonna Kill it all with Love"
Our new album is nearly completed and we are foaming at the mouth just at the thought of sharing it with the world.  The record is currently in the best process it could be in, the MIXING process.  For those that know us (The Wiley One, Sundawg Records, etc) are well aware that we have been working on this for what seems like forever, all the while writing, working and touring.  We have started this blog site so we can express our stories of everything under the sun that has to do with The Wiley One's music and lives.  Stay tuned for Blogs from all band members - The No7Kid, Jay of the Funk, MC Criterion and David Bedell.

Peace, Love and Prosperity
